Ron Dennis says McLaren-Mercedes took a deliberate decision to run heavier fuel loads in Interlagos qualifying to give the team more options should tomorrow's forecast rain disrupt the grand prix.
After matching Ferrari for most of Q1 and Q2, Lewis Hamilton and Heikki Kovalainen only managed fourth and fifth on the grid in Brazil, half a second adrift of dominant pole-sitter Felipe Massa, who Ferrari insist is on a normal fuel strategy.
But Dennis said the team had no concerns about its starting positions, as it believes it is in better shape for what could be a chaotic race.
"We're comfortable with the outcome of today's qualifying session," he said.
Deocamdata Hamilton pare campion. Asteptam cursa de maine.
